Tragedy in Boston

I have to address what happened yesterday in Boston.  It saddens my heart that someone would poison an athletic event like the prestigious Boston Marathon by doing something like this.  Terrorism is an ugly part of humanity and I will say a special prayer tonight for those hurt.  People that do things like this disgust me.

Literary Junkies

I totally look forward to the 3rd Tuesday every month because...it's time for the Literary Junkies Linkup.  Literary Junkies is an blogger book club that you can grab the questions, answer them, and link up so you see what other peeps are reading too!

I've wanted to start my own book club but I haven't gotten the courage to really venture out on my own.  This gives me a chance to participate in something bigger than just me and my little paperback.

This months questions and my answers:

  • What are you currently reading? Tell us about it!
The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.  I heard about it from Julie at PB Fingers and I have been on life cleansing trip so it fits well.  Its an easy read and has really helped me open my eyes to the little things.

Let's learn about each others Reading Habits!! Answer the following questions either with a simple answer or with lots of details! Up to you! :)
  • Amazon or brick and mortar?
both, I have discovered a love of always having my book with me on my phone but there's something fundemental about holding a real book in your hands
  • Locally owned bookshop or big name chain store?
Big name, I don't even know where a locally owned bookstore would be!
  • Bookmark or dog-ear?
dog ear, I feel terrible about it but bookmarks are never around when you need one but sometimes I just end up using the book's receipt!
  • Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random?
Random, my kids are always pulling the books out anyways.
  • Keep, throw away, or sell?
Depends on the book, but never throw away!
  • Keep dust jacket or toss it?
Try to keep my dust jackets but usually end up tossing them, they actually usually make a good bookmark!
  • Read with dust jacket or remove it?
With dust jacket, usually
  • Short story or novel?
Novel, except old stuff like O. Henry
  • Collection (short stories by same author) or anthology (short stories by different authors)?
Short stories by same author, would be open to suggestions of  anthologies though!
  • Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
Depends on how long the chapters are...
  • “It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time”?
Once upon a time!
  • Buy or borrow?
buy, too much pressure when I borrow!
  • New or used?
Gotta love a brand new book...it's got that new book smell!
  • Buying choice: book reviews, recommendation or browse?
Usually book reviews and recommendations but I've found some great ones...Roma by Steven Saylor by browsing!
  • Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
tidy, I like to feel the story is complete.  Hell, I still feel like there's things left unanswered by Harry Potter! lol
  • Morning, afternoon or nighttime reading?
Nighttime, no time to read otherwise!
  • Single volume or series?
I love series, when I fall in love with characters I feel like they are people in my everyday life and tend to feel a little lonely after I finish a good series or a good book
  • Favorite series?
There's too many...Harry Potter, Twilight, Ken Follet's, All Soul's Trilogy, Jrr Tolkien, Piers Anthony the Incarnates, Philipa Gregory's historical fictions
  • Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
Eye of the Needle by Ken Follet or Being a Green Mother by Piers Anthony
